On the current version on windows* it doesn't. Any differences in blue or green become completely invisible.

Isn't that what happens when you convert to grayscale? (Assuming the blue and green end up with the same gray values.)

In darkroom mode, 0x80ffff and 0x800000 are the exact same color. I don't mean that just tint disappears, I mean that vast luminosity differences disappear.
