Without looking into the specs, at the very least, you'd need to modify the LTO drive firmware. The drive itself isn't designed to operate without the servo tracks. Those are written to newly-manufactured tapes with special equipment at the factory.
Not that I know off. But the positioning on recent Gen LTOs is pretty tight. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for a dedicated nerd but it won't be trivial.
